One-on-One Machine Lesson
If you aren’t quite sure how to use your new (or used) sewing machine, this service is for you! This is a one-on-one service with a repair technician that will cover everything from threading your machine to using the buttonhole function. Any technical questions regarding your machine will be answered, as well. This typically takes no longer than an hour, but we will take as much time as you need! This is not a sewing class. Please make an appointment by calling ahead. We are proud to say that we are capable of teaching all makes and models of machines!

What you should bring for your longarm rental:
Please make sure to bring any necessary items for quilting that you may need. This includes marking tools and thread trimmers. Our longarm is completely user-controlled, not computerized. It does have a laser pointer for pantographs, a ruler table for ruler work, and a stitch length regulator.
You will need to bring your quilt sandwich (batting, backing and top) – it does not need to be basted, but it does need to be squared. Please check that you have at least 3″ of excess batting and backing on each side of your quilt top. This extra is necessary to mount the quilt and ensure there is enough material to account for shifting and shrinking. If your quilt is not the same length as it is wide, be sure to mark the top side of your backing and batting.
Please provide your own thread – our machine has the best luck with Gutermann, Mettler and Glide. You can use normal spools of thread or cones.
If you have any other questions about the requirements of the longarm, please do not hesitate to e-mail or call us!
